Conformation Judge's Education
Conformation events showcase a breeder's stock for a physical
structural evaluation by a judge. The process of comparing dogs helps educate breeders to select
physically sound individuals with breed "type" that fulfills the
breed standard.
The AKC allowed the Boykin to
compete in the AKC Miscellaneous classes on January 1, 2008. Starting
December 31, 2009 the Boykin Spaniel could begin to compete for AKC
Conformation Championship points.
The BSCBAA's Conformation
Education Standing Committee works with the AKC and AKC affiliated groups to
help educate AKC judges and breeders interpret the visual creation of the
Boykin Spaniel's founding breeder,
Lemuel Whitaker "Whit" Boykin (1861-1932).This Committee's
duties include overseeing, advising, and updating educational materials,
scheduling seminars and ringside mentoring hosted by the BSCBAA, approving and recommending
presenters and mentors for seminars hosted by other AKC local clubs or judge's groups.
Please
contact the chairperson of the Conformation Ed. Committee with requests for
judge's education seminars. Click here for the current list of Board
appointed chairpersons'.
